If elected to City Council, I will:
PROMOTE TRANSPARENCY IN THE CITY GOVERNMENT
I firmly believe that every elected official should be committed to the highest level of transparency. Conversations and even relationships with City Council Members in a small city are inevitable; disclosing them is essential. Our budget is a matter of public record and should be more easily accessible to the public. Voting records show the electorate that we are living up to the reasons for which they chose us. I am proud of my past performance on the Planning Commission and will continue to serve only the best interest of the people of Calabasas. On City Council, I will lead by example, engage my colleagues in difficult conversations and raise our city to a higher standard.
BRING MY CIVIC AND BUSINESS EXPERIENCE TO ALL COUNCIL MATTERS
I built a strong business by attracting the right people, providing excellent service and delivering on time and within budget. I work on multi-million and even billion dollar projects, serving as part of a large team of designers and consultants. I’m expected to provide expertise in a few areas while understanding the parallel roles of dozens of other trades. In the end, our projects are not successful unless everyone is effective. These essential skills of analysis, comprehension, coordination and teamwork are what I will bring to the Calabasas City Council. Equally as important, I will bring with me the ability to debate complex arguments and persude others in group decisions which I have demonstrated as the Vice-Chairman of the Planning Commission.
HOLD DEVELOPERS ACCOUNTABLE AND PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT
Let's stop overdevelopment! I moved to Calabasas because I wanted to be surrounded by its natural beauty. Preserving the natural environment, including the natural formations, the native plants and wildlife around us is my goal. Maintaining and improving the trail systems in Calabasas and further developing our parks goes hand in hand with this. Within the community our retail and commercial businesses support us and we need to help them thrive. We have a housing crisis in California and we need to do our part to solve it. Through a process of managed growth, I want to see densities grow consistent with the vision outlined in our General Plan, not into the dedicated open space or as a blight along our scenic corridors.
CONTINUE TO SUPPORT OUR LOCAL SCHOOLS
My wife Lesli and I moved to Calabasas because of the exceptional schools. Not only did our kids attend those schools but we’ve also worked to improve them. Lesli volunteered tirelessly, and ultimately served as the President of the Parent Faculty Club at Agoura High School, where one-third of Calabasas students attend. I have seen firsthand the challenges that our teachers face and I have spoken to our administrators about the challenges they face serving 15 schools in four cities. I know that Las Virgenes Unified School District brings significant value to our community and I am committed to supporting them in every way.
ENSURE THAT EVERY VOICE IS HEARD AND CONSIDERED BEFORE ANY VOTE
If you have a good idea, I want to hear it. I want to know what you think and how you feel. As a City Council Member, I will need to hear all sides of any issue so that I can weigh the pros and cons and make informed decisions. I can promise that before each and every vote, you will know that I have reviewed the facts, that I have heard you, that I understand and that I have carefully considered your opinions. In the end, you will know that every voice has been heard and decisions are being made for the betterment of our City. I’m listening.
